Cherry Blossom Bridal Shower - Macalusos 4.20.13

The title to this blog post could have easily been "2 Moms and a Bridal Party"
Bride's mom and future mother in law together hosted a simply gorgeous Bridal Shower for our Princess Bride Maria.
This beautiful Cherry Blossom Bridal Shower was hosted at Macaluso's.
They left the entertaining up to the Bridal party and the ladies did a phenomenal job! We were honored and delighted to design and set up a cherry blossom themed and pink candy-filled Sweet Buffet. We can't wait til the Wedding!!

Bless this Nest Baby Shower 4.13.13

I am so excited to finally share our Bless this Nest baby shower on the blog. It was so much fun hunting for all the rustic/ vintage pieces that would help in the styling and creation of this concept for mama to be Lannie.

Since this is baby #2 for the gorgeous mama to be, I couldn't help but fall in love with this very fitting rustic wire bucket, it was such a great find! It served as an awesome styling prop, we included some baby onesies and a pair of vintage looking baby boots.

Table Top setting: for a delicate rustic concept, we dressed the tables in white linens and hand-laced burlap runners. For centerpieces white bird cages were nested on birch wood flat slabs, mason jars adorned with lace contained twine-tied bunches of jip (babysbreath) and mason jelly jars wrapped in twine contained floater candles. Round wood slabs were used as table numbers- numbers were stenciled with paint. White chair covers and hand-tied burlap sashes dressed the chairs.
Rustic Dessert Table: Vintage looking baby onesie cookies were nested on square birchwood slabs adorned with doilies. The cookies were so delicious!

Escort cards were printed on kraft stock and were displayed on birchwood logs.

A rustic baby bookshelf was displayed and was quickly filled with baby books brought in by guests.
The bookshelf was built from wine crates.

Some more escort cards, these were hanging from a moss frame.
They were attached to twine with baby clothespins.

Another great find were the birch wood pencils.

Baby birds Cake Pops were standing on a large wooden slab.

Our rustic dessert table. The 'Sweets' banner was printed using vintage newspaper print on kraft paper. Fabric strands attached to birch branch worked as garlands and adorned the dessert table as a backdrop.

70 Years Young - Frank Sinatra at The Graycliff 2.24.13

Start spreading the news...

A special celebration to celebrate a special man turning 70 years young.

How else do you celebrate 70 years of life? Well, we surrounded this special guy with all his favorite things; Family, Friends, Food and Frank Sinatra. Lot of F's there...we had a Fabulous time.

Details.
Looking through my storage, I found a few old Sinatra records and some of them turned out to be the perfect guestbook.

This silver microphone and Frank's oil painting were a perfect find and made awesome props for the escort card table.

Invitations consisted of 3 layer stack cards in black, silver and white.

Escort cards were adorned with the NYC skyline and a caricature of Frank Sinatra.

Guestbook Sign. I love this. So true. Perfect fit.

Tabletop.
We opted for a Hollywood Glam/50's concept and created Ostrich Feather centerpieces nested on trumpet vases filled with jelly fillers and lit via white foralytes to simulate soft spot lighting. The lit white feathers popped over the black tuxedo linens.

The simple table numbers - translated in Italian.

Mangia!
6x6 white Menu cards displayed over silver beaded charger plates.

Keeping the entire 'Frank Sinatra' vibe, mini Jack Daniels bottles were the perfect favor.
Who doesn't know 'Jack and Coke' was Frank's favorite drink?

There couldn't be a better cake for the occasion. Thanks to Joanne at Palermo Bakery for designing this yummy cannoli-filled confection.

Shiann's Winter Sweet 16 - The Tides Estate 1.27.13

I started planning a design concept with this lovely family back in September. From the 1st email I received from Shiann's mom, I knew that this was going to be a fun Sweet 16 to plan.
You've heard the saying "time flies when you're having fun", I wish I had the power to freeze time just a tad bit - this family was just so fun and a pleasure to work with!

Their intentions were heart-set on giving their daughter an amazing evening, a Sweet 16 party that  presented her personality and one that she would never forget.

Wedding Anniversary Traditions

What's Yours?

We all know about the Wedding Anniversary Gift tradition that’s been around for many years.
Gifting paper items for the 1st wedding anniversary. i.e. books, planners, personalized notecards are my favorites. For a more modern gift the 1st year gift a clock or gold jewelry. On the 2nd wedding anniversary tradition says to gift cotton and for a modern gift include China. On the 3rd Year of wedded bliss, tradition says gift Leather or/and crystal, glass, pearls for a more modern gift. Anniversary #4 tradition says gift Fruit and/or Flowers (my favorite is Edible Arrangements basket) and a modern gift would be appliances, linen, silk or a blue topaz and so on...

But, perhaps you create your own tradition that doesn’t include buying each other a gift.
Reservations at a certain-favorite restaurant that you only dine at for your wedding anniversary, revisiting the place you both met and for a romantic twist try reenacting that first hello, revisiting where you exchanged vows and relive the moment by reading your vows to each other, ordering a replica of your wedding cake and flavor?

OR you can get as creative as our wonderful past clients D&J, who not only had their ceremony and reception where they 1st met but they saved their actual wedding cake and have been enjoying a slice on their wedding anniversary for the past 4 years! Yes, that’s right and she claims that it tastes amazing! They might have a slice or two left to enjoy on their 5th.

What an awesome way to celebrate and relive that magical moment when you exchanged vows with your soul-mate. Reliving the moment you both gave your wedding cake the 1st cut followed by the traditional kiss and feeding each other that first sweet piece...
Thanks D for sharing your tradition with us. We wish you a Happy 4th Anniversary and unlimited decades of wedded bliss.
